MONDAY, OCTOBER 15 Part 1
I'm on a mission. I'm in the middle of a mystery. If I don't get an answer, life is not worth living.
I came across this PDF a few weeks ago. It's a short one at only 14 pages. But it has a PLETHORA of information. The author researched the pros and cons of using computers to teach writing. She (I am assuming the author is a she) created a document that CLEARLY lists the research-based advantages and disadvantages of teaching writing with tech. She CITED other researchers, GIVES pages numbers of the books she's read, and provides a detailed ANALYSIS of her findings. BUT!!
But, the PDF does not include the author's name, the title of her book, or anything that would identify the source. There is a dense fog of huggermuggery blanketing the identity of the author.
I've been dissected the internet with my bare hands, but nothing. I can't find any identifying information. All I have is Chapter Two. All I know is that it's a publication the National Council of Teachers of English endorses. Yet, they are keeping mum. For some probable sinister reason the NCTE doesn't want the world to know who the author actually is. I've tried hacking into the secure NCTE database, but was unsuccessful. (Ok, disclaimer here: I really didn't try to hack into the "secure" database. I just googled it and was denied access. So, Mr. FBI Agent, please don't come after me.)
At this point, I'm sure I can't use this document in my research, but it will probably be a life-long quest of mine to find the mysterious and illusive author of "Chapter Two: Using Computers to Teach Writing: Advantages and Disadvantages."
I will not be able to go gently into that good night until I do.
