Session 4: Ideas and Burning Questions
The greatest challenge I face in creating a resource for other fellow writing teachers is that I just need the time to plan and execute it all. I wish I had one week where I did not have to worry about the laundry, the grocery shopping, the cooking, the cleaning, paying bills, trips to the doctor, the dentist, the vet. Just time to concentrate 100% on what I have to do to create a well-developed resource for other teachers of writing.
Brenda Dervin
Key Idea: Identify the Gap.
Burning Questions: How do you motivate students who have "Checked Out?" How do you address learning disabilities among students of writing? How do you encourage students who are techno-phobic?
Bobbe Baggio
Key Idea: Keep it simple, clear and focused. Connect with content and the learner.
Burning Questions: What is out there? What websites are out there that can help me create a useful resource? How can I test out my resource? Is there a way to test out my resource before going "public?"
Ruth Clark
Key Idea: Know your subject matter.
Burning Question: What's going into my resource? What concepts? How much should I include? What should I leave out?
